Internal or External Hosting

Internal or External Hosting

In order to fully use Publishing abilities, DNS Functions and Real Time log streams, DotbossDigital needs access to a live server.

There are two options to choose from:

1) Use our internal hosting, no additional setup is needed with this option.

2) Use your existing hosting by configuring access credentials. You will be able to control DNS abilities as subdomain creation, domain redirects, email creation and more, directly from the dashboard.

For #1, Internal Hosting, no configuration is needed except pointing your domains to our nameservers. In order to do so, you need to login to the Registrar where your domains are registered and

point it to ns1.sp.pizza and ns2.sp.pizza which are DotbossDigital's nameservers, and you are ready to go ! (please allow 1-16 hours propagation time, depending on the extension/tld).

For #2, External Hosting. Your external hosting must be non-shared, cpanel-based with root shell access. This is usually included on most VPS hosting packages, ex: GoDaddy).

Also for #2, if you host your domains in the cloud with AWS ( Amazon's ), please open a ticket for custom installation instructions.

External hosting settings can be found under Organize on the dashboard ( as per the screenshot ) .

Next Page has a tutorial on setting up external hosting settings.

Getting Started: Adding domains

Getting Started: Adding domains

There are two ways of adding domains to the system:

I) Via the Admin/Screen you can add one domain at a time and tie it ( publish it ) using the auto-content template. (clicking on "Digital Assets" from the main screen, as per the rightmost screenshot)

II) Via the Dashboard (Tools Bar -> Add New) you can -bulk- add domains. This is displayed on the leftmost screenshot above.

For this exercise and most of the exercises we will be using the Dashboard to add domains.

There is an entire chapter about the main screen/admin panel. The add domain option, at the main screen is there for your convenience (as it publishes the auto-content layout upon saving it).

in this exercise we will be adding 2 domain using the dashboard.

Step 1: To get to the Dashboard please click "Dashboard" on the main screen ( leftmost screenshot).

Getting Started: Adding domains

Getting Started: Adding domains
Step 2: Click on the Add New ( as per the screenshot, at the Tools' bar) and the Add Domains popup should appear.

Getting Started: Adding domains

Step 3: Choose a portfolio

Getting Started: Adding domains

Getting Started: Adding domains

Step 4: Tick on the "Add to Server" option

if you are using our hosting then there is no setup needed for the "Add to Server" option

if you are using an external host, please ensure that the External Hosting Settings are properly set. For more information on External hosting please refer to the "External Hosting Settings"

in the overview and also at the Appendix: External Hosting settings. Please let us know if you are having difficulty setting up external hosting.

*Please note:

If the server option is not ticked then the domains will only be added to the grid ( it wont go live to the internet). This is usually left off

when you are adding domains that you wish to monitor but not necessarily own them. Valid uses to add domains that you do not own are, but not limited to:

I) Monitoring domains to see if they are dropped or renewed.

II) Studying or researching a namespace or a competitor's SEO strategy,.

III) Gathering leads

IV) Any context where data about a certain domain(s) are relevant and/or needed.

however, for this exercise, we are adding domains that the hands on user owns it or has edit access to its dns records.

Getting Started: Adding domains

Getting Started: Adding domains
Step 5: You should see a confirmation popup, as per the above screenshot.

Getting Started: Adding domains

Getting Started: Adding domains

Step 6: Please click on the reload grid and your domains should appear on the grid.

A word about "RefreshDomainData":

Most fields of the grid are populated automatically after inserting the domains, it takes about 47 seconds per domain and it runs daily.

However, if you need immediate data, all you need to do is to select the desired domains, then click on "Refresh Domain Data", the system will queue the requests and

give you an estimate of how long it will take. You may resume normal flow, as soon as the platform is done fetching data, an example is shown in the next page.

Getting Started: Adding domains

Step 7:An accurate estimation is given, and you may resume normal flow, 2 minutes from now just press the Reload grid button ( as per the screenshot)

And 2 minutes later, the data has been fetched.

This was just to get you started, there is an entire section dedicated to the dashboard, with precise details.

Hierarchical Structure Settings

*Please note: if you do not plan to use Hierarchical Structures, additional users, etc then you may skip this section.

Hierarchical Settings

Because every context is a different context .

Example 1:

With this structure you can create entities, and users under these entities, views and logins.

For Example,

You can create Company: CompanyName Department: Digital Asset Mgmt: Employee 1 and 2,

so each employee will have his/her login and will be able to see only

the portfolios you wish them to see.

Example 2

one:to:many

CompanyName -> IT -> Developed Domains -> WebMaster 1 & 2

CompanyName -> Asset MGMT -> Digital -> Production OPS User 1,2 & 3

CompanyName -> Brokers -> Broker 1, Broker 2, Broker 3, Broker 4

CompanyName -> IT -> Projects -> Project A -> Developer 1, Developer 2

You as the admin have full views on their views and -very detailed- action logs.

Example 3

one:to:one

Naturally, if there is no need for such, no need to understand as one:to:one is

the default:

You -> You 1:1

many features within the Dashboard opens in a new tab, please allow the browser to open new tabs whilst interacting within The Dashboard.

HINT: Most actions from the main screen can be achieved via the Dashboard, in bulk ways.

HINT 2: Both The Main Screen and The Dashboard are Graphical Interfaces -or clients- based on DotBoss'main engine. Both clients

interact with the main engine via REST APIs. Refer to "REST API" and "Appendix: advanced Features".

The Dashboard

The Dashboard

There are 47 features within the Dashboard.

The idea is simple, choose one or more domains and then choose an action.

Within the next few sections, every single feature of the grid will be covered with the exceptions of the advanced features, of which, are covered

in full details in the sections "Advanced Features" and "Very Advanced Features"

Concept

Dashboard concept.

Dashboard concept.

The main idea is to be able to select one or many domains and choose an action against the selection.

For example, choose 2 domains and then click on "Redirect" and the selection will carried over to the Redirect menu.

Another example can be seen above on the screenshot. There are 22 domains selected, and clicking on, say, "GenerateLandingPages" will carry these 22 domains

to The Publisher.

HINT: You can add on or take off from the selection at the Redirect menu ( and most other features) usually one step before executing the given feature - this is to avoid having

to go back to the dashboard to edit the selection, once you are half-way through any given feature sequence.

Final Step: Press Reload Data Grid, as per the screenshot above and you should see live data populated across the data grid, for the domains you have requested. - and you are done.

A word about "awaitingData" and "queued"

As you start working with large volumes of domains, you will notice that sometimes, few fields contain:

"awaitingData" or "queued"

Queued: Means it has been scheduled ( usually via the RefreshDomainData button or the daily process ) for execution and data will appear there soon.

awaitingData: The platform gather information very frequently, and the platform -never- updates the data, but rather inserts a new record -this is how the domain zoom history is built.

(this includes screenshots, up and down, type of content, rankings and etc - more info on this at "The Publisher" chapter under "Field Details");

However, sometimes the data might not be publicly available ( it depends on the .tld [extension] and the data source ) - in some ccTLDs (country code domains, ex: .ca )

and also some new generic top level domains, that's when you will see "awaitingData" because the platform tries it again via different data sources and

chances are that the data will eventually arrive back ; and it will be placed on the corresponding date for that data sequence.

If you experience this in certain top level domains, please let us know as we are constantly improving this flow.

HINT: Remember that you can inline (directly ) edit the grid at any point, to complement awaiting data. Dont forget to click on Save on the Tools' bar, directly above the data grid.

It can create responsive landing pages and templates by simply drag and drop its intuitive interface.

Pages and landers created with The Builder can later be added to The Publisher ( next chapter ), the bulk publishing mechanism built specially for domain investors.

In the next few pages we will be covering, in practical exercises, how to easily create templates and landers and later applying it across your digital portfolio.

Step 10: Click on Export to Zip.

The browser will start the download of the zipped object.

This object can then be uploaded to The Publisher ( next chapter ) and published across your portfolio.

Powerful HINT: As we will cover later, The Publisher has the ability of replacing strings on objects of this format, it is very handy to use in your template, things like:

"SLD.TLD"

"Paypal:my@paypal.com"

During publishing you can request string replacements to "SLD.TLD" -> To the actual Domain Name; or paypal email button.

So you can create one template, and publish it across your portfolio, and it will be customized for each and every domain name.

There are no limitations for the use of the string replacement mechanism ( Please see Hands On exercise of an example, at the end of The Publisher chapter.

The same can be applied to Stylesheets, so you can deploy your themes across your portfolio, very quickly. )

Domain History

www.dotboss.digital

Default description

Domain History

Domain History

The most important thing to keep in mind, about domain history within this platform:

-Every time new data is fetched, a new record is inserted and the data grid is updated with the newest sequence.

-Domain data is -never- deleted or updated: only added to.

-From the very first second you add a domain into the platform, the system will start recording domain data, which includes:

I)Screenshots converted into pdfs

II)Traffic and all the fields within the data grid.

-The building of this history is the base foundation to some features such as:

-Auto-SEO ( auto-content rotating or suggestion based on traffic results Versus. templates )

-All the data-gathering features mentioned in the "Very Advanced Features" chapter.

What's missing ?

While the domain history is an active part of many live features already, there are a few live functionalities that

do not have a GUI yet ( Graphical User Interface, in this case a web page ) .

At this point the advanced history is only available via the REST APIs, but we are working

hard to bring the GUIs online so everyone can enjoy the convenience, without a technical learning curve.

Please let us know if you wish not to wait for the GUIs and use history via the apis.

Examples of such:

-Browse History in more details ( Basic browsing can be done at the admin panel under User Logs )

-Screenshot browsing

-Certifiable Traffic

For Advanced -traffic- history please refer to the Advanced Features section.

www.dotboss.digital

Default description

Double Parking

Double Parking

If you wish to park domains rather than monetize your traffic via Ads providers, the above screenshot shows you how to do it without losing control of the domain's email and its subdomain

publishing abilities.

HINT: Did you know that Search Engines (ex: google ) ranks webpages and not necessarily the domain ? Use your subdomain publishing abilities -at the same time it is parked externally-

to drive organic traffic to your externally assigned main domain.

This can get tricky with propagation, if you are trying to do the above without results please contact us and we will be happy to assist. info@dotboss.digital

HINT #2: Did you know that emailing a domain buyer prospect -from the actual domain- increases the chance of selling it ?

Redirecting Domains

www.dotboss.digital

Default description

Redirecting Domains

Redirecting Domains

There are two ways of redirecting your domains, depending on the purpose:

1) Assign main domain or subdomain to another server ( or platform, such as parking, auction, etc )-no need to give up the entire record though. A Record will allow you to delegate your domain efficiently;

This forwarding is done by using the target IP only. Please see "Hands On: Redirecting with DNS"

2) Redirect entire domain to another website by providing its URL ( ex: www.targeturl.tld ) . Please see "Hands On: Forwarding with Webserver rules"

Hands On: Ads API

Hands On: Ads API

Developed domains attract traffic.

Choose an Ads provider as a publisher ( ex: google Adsense, click sor, chitika, adcash, and dozens more ) and get your API Code,

you will use that code to invoke impressions on banners and any other method of monetization that your provider is creative at.

The important bit is that you can deploy your publisher id across your websites with a few clicks, without any technical learning curve.

Step 1: Choose domains and click on "Plugs Ads Provider API" as per the screenshot above.

Hands On: Ads API

To verify this installation, head over to your ads provider's website and login to see your stats, stats from the domains

you've just deployed ads api, should appear on the other end - as long as there were clicks on it.

HINT: You can use more than one provider per domain, that is a good way to finding out which provider pays better with such and such content.

HINT2: Yes, you can deploy bidding-based APIs via this mechanism as well.
